Case Study

A specialist structure

Client

Non-financial spouse in her mid-thirties at the time of her divorce.

Problem

As well as having limited experience managing money prior to the divorce, our clients’ affairs were especially complex in that she was non-domiciled in the UK having arrived here from Europe during her marriage.

Solution

In association with her tax advisors, and a specialist structuring firm, we were able to set up a Trust and invest her money so that she was able to receive an income virtually tax free.

This income was her only form of remuneration as she never returned to work, instead placing the welfare and schooling of her children as her number one priority.

Like many of our clients she has since become financially sophisticated. After 25 odd years of working together, she is now very active in the management of her money, something she never thought was possible at the outset.
